be, chiseled purpur and smooth purpur are unused purpur blocks that have the texture of the normal purpur block. They are obtainable only via commands (such as give @s purpur_block 1 1 for chiseled purpur, and give @s purpur_block 1 3 for smooth purpur) or through inventory editing. Smooth purpur lacks a translation string, and its in-game name is tile.deprecated_purpur_block_2.name. Previously, it was tile.purpur_block.smooth.name.

The compound creator is a block used in chemistry. It allows over 30 compounds to be created by combining elements. This includes certain items which are available in the game normally.
Obtaining
A compound creator can be mined using a pickaxe. Mining without a pickaxe is slow, but the compound creator still drops as an item.

Compound creators cannot be obtained in Survival without commands. Bedrock, the world must also have "Education edition" enabled.
Usage
Compound
Using the compound creator opens up a 3×3 grid, where elements can be inserted to create compounds. By inputting the appropriate type and number of elements, the creator outputs the component in the slot to the right of the grid. All compound recipes are shapeless, and unlike the crafting table, the stack sizes are taken into consideration. Also, unlike with most blocks with an interface, the elements are not consumed.

A creeper head is a block modeled after the head of a creeper.
Obtaining
Breaking
A creeper head can be mined using any item, and drops itself when broken.

If a creeper head is pushed by a piston or comes in contact with water or lava, it breaks off as an item.
When destroyed by an explosion, the creeper head always drops as an item.
Mob loot
Creeper heads are always dropped by a creeper if it dies due to a charged creeper's explosion. bedrock, if multiple mobs are killed by the same charged creeper, all of them drop their heads, however java only one mob selected at random drops its head.
Creeper Head
Usage
Decoration
Creeper heads can be oriented in 16 different directions on top of a block, and 4 directions on the sides of blocks, similar to signs. They can be placed on top of, or beside each other by shift clicking.
Wearing
#Renders
The player can wear creeper heads, similarly to pumpkins or helmets. This overlays the second layer of the player's skin.
Disguise
Wearing a creeper head reduces the detection range for creepers to 50% of the normal range. This is similar to (and stacks with) the reductions in detection range from sneaking and from the Invisibility status effect.
bedrock, wearing a creeper head makes the player invisible to other players on a locator map.
Dispensers
A dispenser can equip a creeper head on a player, mob, or armor stand with an empty helmet slot, within the block the dispenser is facing.

Note blocks
Placing a creeper head above a note block causes the note block to play the creeper's primed (hissing) sound when activated. This is unlike other mob heads, as creepers don't make ambient sounds.
The block below the note block does not affect the mob sound it creates.

Usage
When receiving a redstone signal, the floatater adjusts its triggered state immediately. 1 gametick after becoming triggered, it pushes all blocks connected via its sticky side. It does not check redstone signals when placed by a player.
Floating
Unlike pistons, it does not have a standard max-number of pushable blocks, but rather a distance limit of 30 blocks (cubic range rather than spherical). If the stickied blocks are connected to a block that is 31 or more blocks from the floatater, the structure does not move. This means the maximum number of blocks moveable by the Floatater is 32,768 (including itself), as long as it's built in a 32×32×32 cube with the Floatater itself at any place inside that area. Stop the structure by "grounding" it, or connecting it to a large enough amount of blocks.
Floataters can move blocks normally broken by piston pushing or cannot be moved, i.e., melons and redstone dust not inclusive of tile entities such as shulker boxes and comparators, which break off when pushed. Blocks can be connected with floataters in the following ways:
* An irreplaceable block is pushed if it is in front of another block being pushed by the floatater.
* A block is considered connected if its interaction box is touching that of a block being pushed, neither being a floatater unless the other's on the sticky side. A piston and its head are not connected in this way, but a sticky piston is connected with its head through its sticky side.
* On their sticky sides, sticky pistons (on the front, whether extended or not, excluding piston heads), slime blocks (all sides), honey blocks (all sides) and floataters (on the back) are always connected with their adjacent blocks, including air and fluids.
A floatater creates a "super extra magic" entity (<code>minecraft:grid_carrier</code>) storing moved blocks when starting to float. Block entities placed as a part of the floatater structure break off when the floatater begins moving, even if not pushed by anything, and blocks connected to them are still moved. Waterlogged blocks are pushed without water.
Moved blocks are deleted after the "super extra magic" is created. Fluids are not deleted. When waterlogged blocks are deleted, water is kept. Deletion of tripwire may be rolled back if its hook is notified to update the attached state of the tripwire. Blocks in a floatater structure are stored in order, but the order in which moved blocks are deleted depends on location. This process sends general neighbor changed updates after all blocks are deleted and no post placement updates. Additional updates are sent immediately after deletion of each block. Updates from a block deleted earlier can cause attached blocks to drop, even if they have been stored in the "super extra magic" and should be deleted later.
When multiple floatater blocks facing the same direction are connected together, and all are powered simultaneously, the floatater moves faster.
It can transport redstone contraptions, including extended pistons, but freezes all redstone activity until it comes to a stop.
A floatater structure floats until a block in it collides with another block, where both blocks must be irreplaceable, and the one in the floatater structure must be behind a replaceable block or at the front of the floatater structure. Non air blocks in the floatater structure replace existing blocks, sending neighbor changed updates and no post placement updates (those from the floatater may be detected as it becomes unactivated), which can be rolled back by tripwire notifying its hook to update its attached state.

Concrete is a block created when concrete powder touches water. It comes in the sixteen dye colors.
Obtaining
Breaking
Concrete requires a pickaxe to be mined. When mined without a pickaxe, it drops nothing.

Natural generation
Red and white concrete can be found in trial chambers throughout many various murals in an atrium.
Post-generation

Concrete is formed when concrete powder comes into contact with a block of water (source block, flowing or waterlogged). If next to a waterlogged block, it must be adjacent to the sides where water can flow out from, such as the open sides of stairs, but not the back side of stairs or any sides of waterlogged leaves.
Renewability
Concrete is renewable as all of the crafting ingredients of concrete powder are renewable. However, without glitches, sand is only renewably obtained through the wandering trader, which spawns infrequently and only allows a limited number of trades per spawn, making it impractical to obtain it (and by extension, concrete) through only renewable means.
Usage
The bright and solid colors of concrete make it useful for decoration. It has more pronounced colors than terracotta, and unlike wool, is not flammable.
As a building material, its hardness is slightly higher than stone, but its blast resistance is significantly lower.
Note blocks
Concrete can be placed under note blocks to produce "bass drum" sound.

* In real life, a 1-cubic-meter concrete block (the size of a Minecraft block) is practically blast-proof, while the blast resistance of concrete in Minecraft is quite low.
* Also in real life, concrete is made of Portland cement, apart from sand, gravel, and water. Cement serves as a binding material, that binds sand and gravel together. In Minecraft, dye is used instead of cement. It is possible that cement is made at the same time from sand and gravel, if the gravel contains limestone, because limestone and sand are real life ingredients for cement.
* A black concrete block is considered the blackest block in Minecraft

Hardened stained glass is the dyed type of hardened glass that has been chemically strengthened, crafted from dyed stained glass.
Obtaining
Breaking
Unlike normal stained glass, hardened stained glass drops as an item to be picked up again when broken with any tool or by hand. It also takes significantly longer to break.

Usage
Most blocks that require placement on a solid block can be placed on hardened stained glass. Torches and redstone torches, which can be placed on top of the hardened glass stained blocks, attaching to their sides is also proven possible.
Hardened stained glass blocks adjacent to other hardened stained glass blocks are invisible when viewed through the glass, but not when viewed through normal stained glass.

Reinforced deepslate is a block that generates exclusively in ancient cities. It has high hardness, is immune to explosions, and cannot be obtained in Survival mode.
Obtaining
Reinforced deepslate is not obtainable in Survival, even with Silk Touch, and is only available through the Creative inventory or commands. It cannot be pushed by a piston, is highly blast resistant, has higher hardness than obsidian, and cannot be destroyed by the wither or the ender dragon.
Breaking
Reinforced deepslate has no tool associated with it, meaning it is mined at the exact same speed regardless of the tool used.

Natural generation
56 blocks of reinforced deepslate are found in the central part of each ancient city, creating a frame-like structure.

Usage
Chiseled copper is a decorative block that oxidizes over time.
Oxidation
Oxidation
Non-waxed chiseled copper has four stages of oxidation (including the initial normal state). Lightning bolts and axes can remove the oxidation on chiseled copper. Using a honeycomb on chiseled copper prevents it from oxidizing further.
As the block begins to oxidize (exposed), it gets discolored and green spots begin to appear. As the oxidation continues (weathered), the block is a green color with brown spots. In the last stage (oxidized), the block is teal with several green spots.

A stained glass pane is a dyed version of glass pane. It is a transparent block that can be used as a more efficient alternative to stained glass blocks.

Obtaining
Breaking
Stained glass panes can be obtained using a tool enchanted with Silk Touch. If one is broken without a Silk Touch enchantment, it drops nothing.
Stained glass panes do not have an assigned tool; they are mined at the same speed regardless of what tool is used.

Usage
Stained glass panes are more efficient to use than stained glass blocks, as six stained glass blocks can be crafted into sixteen stained glass panes, yielding 22 panes per block. Windows built using stained glass panes can be up to 267% (22 times) larger in area than windows built with regular stained glass blocks. In Java Edition, stained glass panes appear as flat items inside the inventory, with the front face taking up the entire inventory slot. With the default texture pack, the light gray variant in particular is barely visible in the inventory due to its low contrast to the background of the slot. This can make containers appear empty when they are not.

Placement
If placed without anything on the sides, they appear as a thin vertical • shape, 2×2 pixels in size; but when other blocks occupy adjacent spaces, it becomes flat or turns into a or or shape depending on the items surrounding it. The collision box is identical to the shape of the pane. Therefore, two glass panes placed with one empty space in between forms a gap that is two blocks wide.
Stained glass panes are never oriented horizontally. Horizontal stained glass surfaces must be made from stained glass blocks.
Stained glass panes can be waterlogged, which means water can be in the same place as a glass pane, unlike regular stained glass.

Unlike regular glass panes, stained glass panes cannot be used to lock maps.

* java, due to its flat appearance in the inventory slot and the inventory being colored light gray, light gray stained glass panes almost appear invisible.

* The textures of stained glass and stained glass panes still use the old colors from prior to the 1.12 World of Color update. The texture colors were not changed in 1.12's development, and the retexturing in 1.14 did not adjust the colors to the new 1.12 color palette.

An end rod is a decorative light source that emits white particles.
Obtaining
Breaking
End rods can be mined instantly by any tool or by hand, and drop themselves when broken. They also drop as an item when water flows over them or when lava flows over them java.

Natural generation
End rods generate naturally all over end cities. They may spawn upright on the outside of towers, and they may spawn sideways inside of towers.

Crafting
{{Crafting

Usage

End rods are primarily used as light sources and decoration. They can be placed on any surface of any block, including other end rods. They do not break if their supporting block is broken. Gravity-affected blocks like sand or gravel do not break if they fall onto an end rod oriented vertically, but they do break on a rod oriented horizontally. End rods can be pushed and pulled by pistons, no matter the orientation.
Inside some end city towers, they are positioned so the player may use them to climb the tower, similar to a spiral staircase.

Light
End rods emit a light level of 14 (equal to torches), melting snow layers and ice within a 2-block radius.

Infested blocks are variants of stone, cobblestone, deepslate, or any stone bricks. They take less time to break and spawn silverfish when broken without Silk Touch. Silverfish hiding in infested blocks emerge when a nearby silverfish is attacked in order to attack the aggressor. Infested blocks cannot be obtained in item form.
Obtaining
Infested blocks are not obtainable by Silk Touch. They are available only through the Creative inventory or commands. However, they can be retained from worlds played in versions where they were legitimately obtainable.
Breaking

When the block is broken, whether by a player or by an explosion, a silverfish spawns where it was broken unless the difficulty is Peaceful or the game rule <code>doTileDrops</code> is set to <code>false</code> (<code>doMobSpawning</code> is irrelevant).
Infested blocks take less time to break than their normal counterparts. When breaking them with a pickaxe, they take half as much time to break as their normal counterparts.
When mined with anything other than a Silk Touch-enchanted tool, an infested block drops nothing and spawns a silverfish that immediately attacks the player. If the player attacks a silverfish directly with a sword, bow, or potion of Harming, or when a silverfish takes Poison damage, nearby infested blocks break, spawning more aggressive silverfish. If the silverfish is killed in one hit, then nearby infested blocks do not break, and no silverfish spawn from them.
When mined with a tool enchanted with Silk Touch, the equivalent non-infested block is dropped without spawning a silverfish. This may be any tool (including swords), meaning a pickaxe is not required to harvest the block.
Natural generation
Infested stone bricks are occasionally found in strongholds and igloo basements in place of normal stone bricks. Infested mossy and chiseled stone bricks also generate in igloo basements, but they do not generate naturally in strongholds.
Infested cobblestone is found in the rarely generated "End portal" room in woodland mansions.
Infested stone and deepslate can generate in the Overworld in the form of blobs. Infested blocks attempt to generate 14 times per chunk in ore features of size 0-13/0-10, from altitudes -64 to 63 java or 0 to 64 bedrock, within one of the following biomes, or within a chunk that is at least partially occupied by one of these biomes:

Infested stone can replace stone, andesite, diorite, granite, tuff, and deepslate. If it replaces tuff or deepslate, it becomes infested deepslate.

Block distribution
Post-generation
Infested blocks are generated when a silverfish enters the respective normal block form.
Usage
When mined, an infested block spawns a silverfish that immediately attacks the player.
Identifying
Note blocks placed on infested blocks produce flute soundsbedrock or harp soundsjava, while those placed on the non-infested stone, cobblestone, or stone bricks produce bass drum sounds.
bedrock, a player can distinguish infested from normal blocks by observing that an infested block takes a bit faster to break when using a pickaxe than the stone it appears to be, but without a pickaxe, it still breaks faster.
A silverfish does not spawn if the block is destroyed by the ender dragon.
java, using the debug screen, a player can identify whether or not a block is infested.
